Toyota Motor Corp. plans to provide 200 electric shuttle vehicles to the organizers of next year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The so-called Accessible People Mover vehicles will be used to transport staff, athletes and visitors to various venues. The open-air design, which is wheelchair accessible, can accommodate a driver and as many as five passengers.
Some of the APMs will be configured as low-speed ambulances that carry a driver, stretcher and two paramedics. Both versions will have a top speed of 11 mph and a driving range of 62 miles.
The shuttle is based on Toyota’s 2018 e-Palette concept. The carmaker also plans to demonstrate several other technologies and vehicles during the Olympics, possibly including a flying car.
