Although things may seem anything but serene, according to AkzoNobel, based on research its paints and coatings specialists have conducted, the Color of the Year for 2020 is “Tranquil Dawn,” which is described as “a delicate, fluid shade that sits somewhere between green, grey and blue.”
We Paint Cars, Not Walls. While the color, as shown in that image, has applicability in interiors of a non-automotive type, according to David Menko, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, “Our Automotive and Specialty Coatings business in particular makes full use of the trend research to create corresponding color palettes.”
Just Breathe. From a more poetic standpoint, Heleen van Gent, Head of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center, the group that head the annual trend research, “Tranquil Dawn perfectly captures the 2020 mood of what makes us human. It’s reminiscent of the colors of the morning sky and encapsulates our desire to treasure our most human qualities, which we’ll need in the new decade we are entering.”
She’s got that last bit right.
