For years Schaeffler Group USA has been helping carmakers make their powertrains more efficient through electrification.

Today, the company supplies everything from e-axles and and turnkey hybrid systems to “power wheels” that fit electric motors directly to the wheels, says Patrick Lindemann, president of transmission systems and e-mobility.

Schaeffler also has played an active role in Formula E racing since the international competition began in 2014. The series puts a premium on extreme powertrain efficiency. Says Lindemann, “Everything we learn there, we apply to automotive motors.”
